THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ. Let me say that again. The best book I've ever read. And I read alot, like my whole room is nothing but books. This book was so profound and so moving and so pure. I dont mean pure as in like God would aprove of the innocence, because its not like that at all. Theres sex, drinking, love, lust, pranks, death and deception. Its the epitome of the High School experience. In a book where the main character is obsessed with last words, their own words are what sticks with you most. I wish I could just get this entire book tattooed on me so I could have their words with me always. John Green is such an eloquent writer and he has this way of making every word haunting. This book isnt just another boy sees girl, boy likes girl, girl teases boy, boy gets girl after proving himself, kind of book. Its so much more complicated and beautiful. There is unfortunatly a depressing part of the book, its not unfortunate in that its badly written, just its so powerfully sad. I actually cried make that sobbed while reading it. I never cry during books, and it may have been that it brought up memories of something that happened to me in high school, or it may have been that while reading it, you felt as if you were there, wanting to comfort the main characters. Seeing as I dont want to give away anything from the book I shall leave you with my favorite quote from the fantastic novel "Looking for Alaska"
"I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch, to wrap my arms around her and sleep. Not fuck, like in those movies. Not even have sex. Just sleep together, in the most innocent sense of the phrase. But I lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane. "
